The Blue Lotus
|
|
The "lotus" depicted in the tomb paintings of ancient Egypt and found scattered upon the corpse of Tutankhamen when the tomb was opened in 1922 is also known as the 'lily of the Nile', and it is not a true lotus, but a blue water lily Nymphaea caerulea. It appears to contain apomorphine, a drug with psychoactive properties.
Pictured above is the blue star water lily referred to as a lotus that is the national flower of Shri Lanka, Nymphaea stellata. This may be what is meant by the Sanskrit designation, utpala.
The common water lily (Nymphaeae) of North America, usually white in colour and giving off its distinctive scent, has spiky petals and resembles the larger lotus, but it belongs to a different species entirely. Its split disc leaves or pads tend to lie flat on the surface of calm ponds and lakes.

Insect Bodies
Every insect's body has three parts.
Yes, every insect's body has three parts.
Every insect has a head,
A thorax and abdomen,
Every insect's body has three parts.
Every insect's body has six legs.
Yes, every insect's body has six legs.
They have three legs on each side
And they walk on them with pride.
Every insect's body has six legs.
Insect Parts
An insect has three body parts,
No more, no less than three:
Head and thorax, abdomen -
It sure makes sense to me!
The head has mouthparts well designed
And compound eyes as well.
Antennae sense the world around:
They feel and hear and smell.
The thorax is where legs are joined
Three pairs, six legs in all;
To fly or jump or crawl.
The abdomen is where are found
The systems that it needs
To breathe, to reproduce, digest
The food on which it feeds.
An insect has three body parts,
No more, no less than three:
Head and thorax, abdomen -
It sure makes sense to me!

Truly Malaysia
|

Malaysia, My Home Country
Malaysia is my home country,
Where I live and play,
Shopping malls everywhere,
Where I spend my time all day.
Different cities everywhere,
Malaca, Perak, and Pinang,
Where visitors visit here and there,
Walking happily all day.
I have friends from different races,
Very friendly are they all,
Hindus, Muslims and Chinese,
All rolled into a ball.
The food there is so delicious,
Especially Chicken Leg,
I think it is very nutritious,
If you are lucky, you can have it everyday.
I always will be a part of Malaysia,
Like a flower that belongs to a tree,
I'll always be so happy,
As pleased as I can be.

Feast of Flesh
Darkness ...
night is falling,
hear it calling me by name.
Sleepless ...
on the prowl,
ah, yes, now begins the game.
The moon is pale and bloated,
my skin now fully coated,
these fangs grow long and sharp
and I am thirsty for a kill.
Hungry, mindless, and depraved,
it is the flesh alone I crave
as I slip between the shadows
searching out that perfect meal.
What is this? A child alone,
simply trying to get home--
on the wind, her juicy scent,
oh, how the hunger burns inside!
Pouncing swiftly--what a catch,
this my precious feast of flesh;
I will bite and tear and chew
until the hunger does subside.
Quiet ...
dawn is breaking,
with it taking back its due.
Daylight ...
I am human,
just like you and you and you ...

My House- a poem
My house is big,
But still very small,
It sometimes becomes,
A shopping mall!
People that are sick,
People that are fine,
All of them end up,
In this house of mine!
People give reasons like,
It is quite calm,
But once they come in,
It becomes an Animal Farm!
I'm popular in the colony,
because of my house,
But my friends dont't know that,
IN my house, there lives a mouse!
Though my house is,
the best and worst,
I cant do anything,
because this house.. IS my house!
